It was posted process to make reproduction of " Dancing Fox" on OHARA KOSON book. This fabulous print is a reproduction of Koson's original woodblock print. The top skilled craftsman gathered to make a Koson's reproduction in 2020. The carver made a woodblock from a new wood. The printer printed 43 times for expressing Koson's original color. ( By publisher ) The word " reproduction " in woodblock prints has the nuance of copying and duplication, and few people see it as a work of art, but in really it's not. Just as the masterpieces of classical music have completely different tastes depending on the conductor and performer, each reproduction work has its own taste. We reproducted it because we wanted it to be an oppotunity for people to know the artistry of the reproduction woodblock prints. The people of the Koson's work is not only the beauty of the depiction, but also the expression that utilizes the grain of wood and the expression of the colors that are imprinted on the paper that is unique to woodblock prints. This Koson's work is characterized by large lotus leaves and wood grain in background, and I searched for a woodblock that was close to that wood grain. The original sparrow's eyes used as the manuscript this time seem to be a little winking, and the right and left eyes are expressed in different sizes. The kind of detail is also one of the big points in appreciating. This work expresses moist and vivid colors by stacking more prints than Ukiyoe. Famous "Big Wave" of Hokusai are completed with less than 10 times prints, Koson's " Lotus and sparrow" are made with more than 50 times prints.
